James Stewart and Villopoto won their heats in the drizzle which made the track slippery, but the Main was all about Reed; the Australian lost the lead temporarily to Trey Canard on lap three, but a mistake by the Houston winner three laps later let "Skippy" back in and no-one saw him again.
With Villopoto's exhaust almost hanging off after first lap carnage, it was Stewart's chance to regain the points lead but "Bubba" never looked like winning, eventually coming home half a minute down in third after a mid-race mistake dropped him out of a tight battle for second with Canard and Ryan Dungey. Villopoto gobbled up the field to snatch 7th on the final lap and retain a three points lead over Stewart in the series, but both Reedm Canard and Dungey are closing back in.
Roczen and Broc Tickle had taken the Lites heats, but with the German at the back of the train in 16th on lap one and the LA winner taking his inevitable mid-pack start, Tomac was left to sprint clear at two and a half seconds a lap as series leader Josh Hansen, riding with a broken hand, held up the pack.
Tomac was never challenged as Tyla Rattray needed half the race to get to second on his comeback from a back injury. Tickle completed the podium to close the gap at the head of the table to three points, but Hansen noe has two months before the next round of the West Lites in Seattle.
