The Motor Cycle Union of Ireland has named the squad which Laurence Spence will take to Lommel next month for the Motocross des Nations and there are no surprises as Martin Barr and Stuart Edmonds, the dynamic duo who have been the mainstay of the team in recent times are joined by Graeme Irwin, the Carrickfergus youngster who has been prevented by injury from representing his country for the past two years. Reserve, should anything happen to any of the trio, is Wayne Garrett.

Ballyclare's Barr, currently 5th in the MX1 Maxxis for Tyco TAS Suzuki, will lead the team with Race FX/Samsung Yamaha's Irwin, also holding down 5th in the MX2 Maxxis, slotting into the MX2 squad, while Dubliner Edmonds, also on a Tyco TAS RMZ450F, fills the Opebn class berth. Above all the boys from the Emerald Isle will be looking to make the cut to the main programme direct from qualification on Saturday for the first time since 2009; the last two years they have made the big race by winning the Sunday morning B final, but the tight programme inevitably puts any team transfering this way at a major (knackered) disadvantage!
