Representatives of the FIM, AMA and all three major race series promotors Youthstream (GP), Feld (SX), and MX Sports (AMA Nationals) met yesterday with representatives of the manufacturers to agree a worldwide technical standard which will be enforced from 2012.

The US factory teams won't play ball ! The FIM has issued the entry list for the Glen Helen GP and amongst the 40 nominees in each of the MX1 and MX2 classes there are just TWO US factory riders - KTM's Mike Alessi and Marvin Musquin ! Even Andrew Short won't race, preferring to "prepare for the start of the Outdoor Motocross Series".

The second round of the VMX World Cup at Glen Helen is still 11 days away but series regular Phil Lewis has already got his bags packed; the 41 year old from Ringwood heads a crew of five who are making a real trip out of the affair and fly tomorrow to LAX before taking the six hour drive to Vegas to witness the AMA SX finale.

With their star attractions getting busy for the overseas tour in the coming days, the May Day weekend was a busy one for national championships with Belgium, Holland, France, Germany and Sweden all hosting their top names for the only time this month. With the talent spread, runaway wins were sadly the order of the day. Winners were Clement Desalle, Evgeny Bobryshev, Jeffrey Herlings, Greg Aranda, Marcus Schiffer and Tom Söderström.
